Who We Are

Ashley Altadonna
Ashley Altadonna is a transgender educator, filmmaker, author, and activist living in Milwaukee, WI. She has been advocating for the rights, health, and dignity of the LGBTQ+ community for the last 15 years. Through training and consultations with individuals, businesses, organizations, she strives to improve the lives and experiences of LGBTQ+ community members, in particular, those who are trans/non-binary.

In 2004, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film, and in 2008 she began her own film production business Tall Lady Pictures. Her films, Whatever Suits You and Playing with Gender have screened in numerous international festivals and have been used as teaching aids in high schools and colleges.

In 2008, she began working as a Sexual Health and Wellness Educator for The Tool Shed, a national awarding winning, mission-driven, education-based sex toy store. From 2017 to 2019 she served as Transgender Community Specialist for FORGE, a national transgender anti-violence organization. She has also been a contributor to several local online magazines as well as being featured in Morty Diamond’s anthology Trans/Love: Radical Sex, Love & Relationships Beyond the Gender Binary.

Currently, Altadonna is the Transgender Education Specialist for Trans Tool Shed, a leading resource of quality products and information for trans and non-binary people, and their loved ones. In her spare time, she enjoys playing music, watching movies and spending time with her wife, son and cats.
